AC Commercial & Public

Domestic, Public and Commercial AC Charging Stations

There are a number of options available when it comes to electric vehicle charging in the UK. One of the biggest factors to consider when determining a purchase will be whether or not a consumer requires a DC or AC charging station. AC chargers convert electricity to DC before they can begin to charge, meaning that AC car charging takes longer to provide a full charge than DC. Some vehicles are only compatible with AC connectors, and so will have to be charged at an AC charging station with the right leads.

Why choose an AC charging station?

A range of factors will influence a consumer’s decision to adopt any of the modes and types of EV charging infrastructure, including the vehicle type, desired charge speed, long-term interoperability and UK wiring regulations. However, as the industry matures, the decision comes down to two simple aspects: where is the electric vehicle charging unit being fitted and whom is it designed to service? The difference between commercial, public and domestic AC charging stations will affect the type of AC charger required by the consumer – as well as where it is intended to be installed. Wall mounted and ground mounted AC chargers are available, providing versatile and practical options for various circumstances.
As well as a highly recommended Charge Check Tester (essential for any OLEVinstaller**) we stock all the mounting bases, leads and accessories any installer needs to fit an electric vehicle AC charging station in any environment.
